A large cleaning operation took place yesterday at the Gorge Gouleyrous, Tautavel. This was organized by the climbing club Tautavel. Thirty-seven volunteers came to pick up the waste of any kind in this paradise. For Gorges Gouleyrous are victims of their own success. Hundreds of people come to bathe in the summer, and at the end of the season, bottles and cigarette butts are dozens. The volunteers collected 5 m³ of waste. So to avoid that the site is contaminated again next year, the mayor plans to regulate access. Gorges Gouleyrous could soon be reserved for hikers and lovers of outdoor recreation.
