Préhistochilds, teens Via Ferrate La Panoramique

With Matilde, Charlotte, Jeanne, Anahi, Garance, Noah, Arthur, Léo, Philippe, Aurélie and François.

In October, we had planned to travel the via ferrate “La Panoramique” of the Clue de la Fou in Saint-Paul de Fenouillet. This course is developed on 300 m of height difference and a little less than a kilometer in length. This route is reserved for seasoned practitioners where one encounters overhanging passages interspersed with overhead passages on a monkey bridge or Himalayan bridge. In autumn, the Tramontana was blowing too hard to cross the via serenely, we fell back on the short course. The Prehistochilds and the Prehistotians had been very disappointed. Last Sunday, the weather conditions are excellent : the wind is coming from the south, the sky is cloudy thus avoiding hot spots. Our goal for the day is all found. Children introduced to the activity reassure newcomers. It is true that we had practiced little at height this year because of the repeated confinements. The first few meters are swallowed carefully. Everyone is attentive. The first vertiginous monkey bridge offers us some emotions. The less reckless of the group will cross the obstacle encouraged by girlfriends and boyfriends. Children for whom the activity is new take insurance. Gestures are more precise. They find it easier to climb with outstretched arms. Splits are anticipated. The most seasoned fly like rockets. Muscle fatigue is forgotten, replaced by lingual fatigue. After the silence at the start of the day where everyone is focused on applying the technical gestures well and understanding the void, tongues loosen. We can then fully enjoy the landscapes. A griffon vulture comes to greet us. After a quickly swallowed meal, we come to the last obstacle, a small canyon imposing to make oppositions of hands to cross it. The summit ridge is already behind us. A steep and slippery path brings us back to the cars.

Beautiful day in the Corbières which is good for everyone's morale !
