8° Mountain Festival edition

With Elise, Julie, Yori, Ewan, Raphaël, Frédérique, Sophie, Elsa, Matthew, Nathalie, Christophe and François.

Ce week-end, the departmental committee of Alpine Clubs organized the eighth edition of the mountain festival. A meeting that has now become a must for all mountain lovers. Always a great success around this event. No less than a hundred people who had registered to discover our mountain activities. On the program for this weekend : escalation, canyon, via ferrata, potholing, hiking, bungypump… and festive bivouac in the evening.

Saturday, we accompany men, women and children on the via ferrate “La Panoramique” above the Fou de Saint Paul de Fenouillet gorges. Goal of the day : climb the three hundred meters of heights of this magnificent bar of limestone overlooking the Agly and extending over nearly nine hundred meters.

After being equipped, we quickly arrive at the start of the route which begins with an impressive overhanging wall. The weather conditions are optimal. This course attracts a lot of people at this time. We will not be alone. The practitioners of the day having trained for long weeks, difficult passages are swallowed quickly. Always a great pleasure to step over these Himalayan bridges in such a sumptuous setting. Arrived on the ridge, we give ourselves a well-deserved snack break. The time is no longer for action. Words replace the breathlessness of the climb, tongues loosen and everyone shares their moments of life. Some will even go so far as to take a nap. The younger ones get impatient and wake up the troop. Yori , 9 years,  takes the head of the group. The sun is strong, heat hurts organisms. We reach the top after four hours of effort. A vulture coils above our heads. If we could have wings to find the car, still remains for us an hour of descent. Elsa, benevolent, go to the source of La Fou and bring us this famous water “Magic”, the one that prolongs these moments of bewilderment. A beautiful day of meetings and sharing, look forward to next year !

We thank all the volunteers of the four clubs , CAF Perpignan, CAF Prades, Escapade Stéphanoise et Préhistoroc which allowed us to share our passion with everyone.

And thanks also to Elise, Julie, Yori, Ewan, Raphaël, Frédérique, Sophie, Elsa, Mathieu, Nathalie, and Christophe for this delicious meeting.

We were able to resume our activities in June. To respect the sanitary rules, we had to split the groups of the kid climbing lessons into two. This allowed us to go outside and travel the large via ferrate to the delight of teenagers..
